A few pics from our Inaugral Meet
We had 5 parents and 10 children at our first ever play meet, and a good time was had by all (as far as I could see). Four more families have expressed interest in coming along, so the Monday morning group might be expanding over the next few weeks.

Discount subscription to Reading Eggs for home educators
READING EGGS
HEN member, Karen Wade, has negotiated a great discount for home educators on the popular Reading Eggs (www.readingeggs.com) programme. The price is significantly cheaper than what they are charging if you bought directly from them.
The price will be between $12-17 per student, depending on how many students we have (the more students we have, the cheaper it is!). If you are interested, please let Karen know, so she can get the cheapest available price! Please feel free to forward this to another homeschooler who is not on the list! Contact Karen at hs.excursions@gmail.com
Kind regards

We're finally HIP and happenin'
We are starting a weekly opportunity to get together for a chat and play. This will be Monday mornings from 10am-1pm, at my house in Huonville (please email me if you need the address). The first one will be Monday 12 April, and I would love to see you then.
We have also made up a pretty little brochure and a poster to let people out there know what we're about, so if anybody would like to have this to show to others, just let me know and I can send them to you.

Support women's choice!
Women around Australia have been shocked and dismayed at the Rudd Government’s continued refusal to recognise their new maternity ‘reforms’ will remove Australian women’s fundamental human right to choose where and how she gives birth.
At the Eureka Stockade in 1854 individuals had to fight to defend their democratic rights & civil liberties and 150 years later women are having to do it all over again Kevin Rudd. Why??
We are calling for a National Day of Action to support our sisters in Ballarat and to remind our elected Government that they are there to serve the interests of the Australian people, not the financial and political interests of lobby groups like the Australian Medical Association.
On February 18, concerned citizens around the country will gather together outside their local Member for Parliament’s office to let them know, women’s rights matter and we are not going to give up and go away.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says that health reform stops with him. Proposed maternity reform promised to enable Australian women to have access to Medicare funding for midwifery care, enabling greater choice. In fact what Rudd has done is remove a woman’s fundamental right to self deterlination, After intense lobbying from the Australian Medical Association, Health Minister Nicola Roxon has given the green light to Doctors having the final say in the choices women make during pregnancy and birth. Women choosing a midwife at hospital or at home will have their basic rights to informed consent and refusal removed, replaced with medical veto.
These laws will affect the birth choices available to ALL Australian women now and in the future. Our daughters will live and birth by the choices our Government makes today.
